The UID is a Unique Identification number assigned by HETS (HIPAA Eligibility Transaction System) to identify the HETS Submitter. The HETS Submitter will share their Unique ID to the provider for the purpose of allowing the Provider to attest their relationship with the HETS Submitter.
1. Register for a CMSNet User ID:
Hospice providers need to use the CMSNet Online Registration application to obtain a CMSNet User ID, according to CMS guidelines. https://cmsruas.com/internet/CMSNet3.nsf/vForm?ReadForm

After obtaining the CMSNet User ID, providers need to use the QIES online User Registration tool to get the QIES Submission ID, according to CMS guidelines.
3. Two Individual User Accounts:
CMS allows a maximum of two individual user accounts per facility, according to CMS guidelines.
In essence, obtaining Hospice UIDs involves registering for both a CMSNet User ID and a QIES Submission ID through the appropriate CMS online registration tools.
